The current average daily gas production of single coalbed methane (CBM) wells in China is less than 1,300 m3. low rate CBM dramatically limits the sustainable development industry China. To promote development, three universal geological factors, i.e., sources, channels, and driving force are analyzed, considering various complicated conditions reservoirs Additionally, we find that growth proven reserves should be greatly promoted as only 3% by end 2020. widespread extraction mode based on depressurization via dewatering generates very limited effects coal seams with notable deformation, high situ stress, or little water. Therefore, a specific design modes proposed, according to applicable different modes. It covers dewatering, stress release, comining.
